Bio:

Welcome to the Wonderful World of CES. We are in a brand new year, excited about the new opportunities, new attitudes, and looking forward to new concepts, new things to learn. I hope you and your family had a great Christmas and that you enjoyed your holiday. Time with family is so important and rewarding. I have heard some lovely things from your children about your Christmas. They were very excited to tell me all about their special holiday. In reading, we are working on vocabulary and comprehension. In science, we are learning about solids, liquids, and gasses.  We are writing opinion essays. We continue our Lady Liberty Studies in social studies. We are on the fast track to success in learning. Please help us by ensuring your child is in school each day. Each day they miss, is a day they lose instruction. Remind them to follow class expectations, pay attention, and focus on learning. Your cooperation is greatly appreciated.

I am a veteran teacher who could not imagine doing anything other than teaching children. My education includes a Bachelor’s Degree from the University of Southern Mississippi. Go Eagles! After teaching several years, I studied at the University of Oklahoma receiving a Master’s Degree in Education and I am a huge Sooner Fan. I had the wonderful opportunity to teach at the University of Oklahomaas a Graduate Assistant, and at Southwest Oklahoma Community Collage as an instructor. Then I transferred to Alabama. And in a family of Roll Tide Fans, I am outnumbered. During my tenure as an Educator, I have served as a teacher, instructional assistant, a principal and a instructional coach. I had the opportunity as a Fulbright Scholar to go to Japan to visit the schools there. It was an amazing experience and one of the most profound things I brought back with me was the undeniable realization that all children smile the same. My heart’s desire was to return to the classroom to be with the children. With heartfelt thanks, I appreciate my position at Coosada Elementary. We have a wonderful school. Children are very precious to me. I love them and know that I was Divinely led to teach children.

We have much content to learn this half of the school year. We will be testing in April. This test is very important. I know you have realized the content in second grade is much more rigorous than first grade. Students are expected to remember more, become more independent, and produce much more complicated work than before. Please impress upon your child that they must remain focused, listen and participate in lessons. Please make every effort to see that your child is in school. Attendance is the key. If you have questions or need further information, please contact me. I am here for you and your child. I appreciate each of you and feel your support daily.

Thank you for all you do to support our class. I appreciate you all so very much.
