My name is Kimberly Hurst, and I teach EL Intervention at Coosada Elementary School. I am an only child, and a product of the Elmore County School System. I graduated from Stanhope Elmore High School, and then received my Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education from Auburn University at Montgomery. I received my Master's Degree in Elementary Education from Troy State University in Montgomery. I received my Education Specialist Degree in Elementary Mathematics from Auburn University at Montgomery. In December 2018 I became a National Board Certified Teacher, and was recertified in December 2023. I taught 2nd Grade for 27 years, and this is my second year in an EL Intervention role. I have been married to my high school sweetheart for 29 years, and we have two wonderful grown children! My mom and bonus dad are pretty awesome, too! In addition to my family, I also live with one Chihuahua- Lucy Ricardo, one Yorkie- Nikolai Templeton, and two Pyrenees dogs- Thor and Freya. I enjoy reading, boating, camping, fishing, traveling, Alabama football, sitting on the swing, and spending time with my family. I am a firm believer in faith and family, and in open communication between parents/guardians and the teacher. I look forward to teaching and learning with your EL child, and I know we will have a year filled with exploration and discovery!
